Responsibilities & Expertise:

​

Office Management: Fully responsible as the architect for a wide range of projects, including historic restorations, municipal facilities, new construction, institutional and residential renovations, from initial client interview to final occupancy.

​

Project Management: Continually monitor project progress and financial performance; advise the design team and client regarding problem areas, cost overruns, delays, or conflicts that could affect the outcome of the project; track multiple design fees incurred for parallel projects, prepare monthly invoices.

​

Team Management: Lead design teams and delegate responsibilities on multiple projects from conceptual design through substantial completion.

​

Code & Zoning Review: Coordinate with local building, zoning, historic and/or conservation commission officials to review local ordinances that may impact the project design and/or schedule; prepare documents and make presentations at public hearings to obtain project approvals.

​

Consultant Coordination: Collaborate with project consultants (geo-technical, civil, structural, landscape architect, MEP, lighting, fire protection) to allow specialty requirements to be integrated into the design documents to maintain design intent, achieve systems integration, identify, and resolve system conflicts.

​

Construction Documents: Oversee the preparation of comprehensive and coordinated construction documents; prepare thoughtful, refined architectural details that combine the project components into integrated construction documents.

​

Specifications: Direct the coordination, research, and specification of materials and products.

 

Contract Administration: Administer the architect/consultant/contractor agreements; review and approve requests for information, certificates for payment, and change orders.

​

Construction Administration: Attend site meetings and review construction progress for conformance with construction documents; prepare field reports and construction affidavits for conformance with construction control requirements.

  • Disciplines: Excellent understanding of preservation, site planning, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, audio/visual networking, access control, and security systems, with ability to coordinate and integrate these disciplines into the design requirements.

  • Local Ordinances: Familiarity with local zoning ordinances and permitting processes; public zoning and historic commission procedures; ability to discuss issues with local officials.

  • Construction Means & Methods: Ability to contribute in a Design/Build environment; knowledge of construction sequencing, site preparation & access, management of trades and sub-contractors, project work flow, workplace safety.
